Frequently asked questions.

What is the philosophy of Wise Women Health and Wellness?

We believe that women’s health is a conversation and relationship between the provider and patient. It is our job to provide safe, informed care and it is the job of the patient to determine what care is best for them. We try to be open and accessible and work with our patients to find the best path to wellness for them. We will always to our best to maintain our patients’ dignity and respect their autonomy, while providing the fullest information to allow them to make their own decisions about care.

What is well woman care?

Well woman care encompasses annual exams, contraception and some problem visits like infections or STI testing. We have connections with other gynecological providers in the area for more complicated issues if needed.

What is menopause management?

Menopause management involves education and assistance with the changes that occur as we age. While decreased libido, hot flashes, weight gain, mood swings and vaginal dryness are all common with menopause, they do not have to dominate your life. We will help find the best way for you to manage your symptoms by reviewing all your options, part of which may be hormone management including bioidenticals. We also can help you connect with other providers who can help with the journey like physical therapists, life coaches and weight management specialists.

What are bioidentical hormones?

Bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT) uses hormones that are identical to the hormones in your body. BHRT is tailored to you based on hormonal testing. BHRT is made by compounding pharmacies and can be supplied in creams, troches, or pellets. We provide extensive education on the risks and benefits to BHRT before prescribing, and allow you to make the best decision for you.
